To help families get ready for the new school year, we’re providing key information from the Ministry of Education’s New Rules in Schools (2024) initiative. This effort highlights important updates on cell phone use, vaping, social media, and codes of conduct, ensuring students, parents and guardians are kept informed about community standards and expectations. Ontario’s School Code of Conduct
The new School Code of Conduct fosters a positive school climate, supporting the achievement and well-being of all students.
Social Media, Mobile Phones and Devices
Student access to social media platforms on school networks and school devices will be restricted.
During instructional time, cellphones and other mobile devices, such as a tablet or smartwatch, must be turned off or set to silent mode and stored out of view, unless explicitly permitted by an educator for health and medical purposes or to support special education needs, as documented in the student’s IEP.
Families and caregivers can reach their child at any time by calling the school’s main office.
