At Grandview Public School, we have adopted a “Boomerang Lunch Policy”.  The program has been set in place in hopes of reducing the waste in our school, and encouraging students and families to review and rethink about the way they prepare and package lunch/snack foods.

How does it work?  All pre-packaged waste from your child’s lunches and snacks will be returned home in their lunch bags.  Any compostable items (fruit peels, uneaten crusts, etc.) will be composted as part of our school’s green bin program.

We encourage families to think about the way they send food to school.  Consider using sealable, reuseable containers, easy-to-wipe lunch bags, and purchasing food that is not over-packaged to begin with.
